Asia Cup 2008 Live ScoreBoard : India V/S Pakistan
July 2, 2008
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma each hit a half century Wednesday to lead India to 308-7 off their 50 overs against injury-hit Pakistan in the Super-Four of the Asia Cup.
Dhoni made a fighting 76 off 96 balls in the one-day match, with four boundaries, while Sharma scored 58 off 71 balls as they added 112 runs for the fifth wicket. Pakistan’s second-string bowling attack, which came under the onslaught of Virender Sehwag (49 off 33 balls) and Gautam Gambhir (35 off 32 balls), came back strongly and claimed three wickets in space of three runs. But Dhoni led from the front and Irfan Pathan – playing his first match of the tournament after recovering from a side strain – made a quickfire unbeaten 38 off 25 deliveries to take four-time Asia Cup winners India past the 300-run mark.
Younis Khan has always been a picture of confidence and it was perfect that he was at the crease while anchoring Pakistan’s chase against his favourite rivals.
Younis Khan’s unbeaten 123 (117b, 11×4, 1×6) guided Pakistan to an eight-wicket victory over India in a STAR Cricket Asia Cup semifinal league match at the National Stadium here on Wednesday. Younis, who struck 108 to help Pakistan defeat M.S. Dhoni’s men and win the Kitply Cup at Dhaka, continued to be India’s scourge on a day when a victory was imperative for the host to keep its hopes of a berth in the final alive.
Chasing India’s 308 for seven in 50 overs, Pakistan scored 309 for two in 45.3 overs. Pakistan gained two points and now needs to defeat Bangladesh on Friday while hoping that India loses to Sri Lanka on Thursday.
