Live Score Board India v Sri Lanka : Match delayed due to rain

July 22, 2008

The first test between Sri Lanka and India at the Sinhalese Sports Club was delayed by rain on Wednesday.
It is 15 years since India last won a Test series in Sri Lanka and the last time the two teams met on Sri Lankan soil, they lost 2-1. The wiles of Muttiah Muralitharan are always a threat and this time they will have to cope with a new spin sensation, Ajantha Mendis, who took 6 for 13 against them in the Asia Cup final.

Unravelling the mystery of new spin sensation Ajantha Mendis will be the biggest challenge for India’s famed batsmen as they go into the first Test against Sri Lanka, seeking to achieve the rare feat of conquering the is landers at home.

Batting has been India’s strength in recent years and it is no different this time around as the team has plenty of experience in that department. Indians had lost a three-match Test series 2-1 on their last Test tour of Sri Lanka in 2001.
