Records tumbled and new records were made on the opening day of the Mohali Test while India were 311 at the loss of five wickets at stumps.

Tendulkar became the highest Test run scorer ever and also the first cricketer to complete 12,000 Test runs. He broke West Indies batting great Brian Lara’s record of 11953 runs to become highest run-scorer in Test cricket history. Lara scored 11953 runs in 131 Tests at an average of 52.89 while the Indian maestro reached this mark in 152* matches at an average of 54.11 runs.
Sachin missed this record in Bangalore by 15 runs and pressure was mounting on the batting maestro.
