Nimbus Sport International has won the global broadcasting and sponsorship rights of India-Sri Lanka series 2009 for a sum of Rs 45 crore.
The Indian cricket team will tour Sri Lanka to play five one-dayers and a Twenty20 game. It is scheduled to be held between January 28 and February 10.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board had called for TV bids last week. The bids include rights for international television, radio, mobile, Internet and sponsorship. The matches will be aired on Neo Cricket.
Meanwhile, media buyers said that Neo Cricket has already started talking to advertisers to sell air-time. Considering that the series kicks off on January 28, the channel has less about 7 days to close sponsorship and advertising deals.
