IPLT20 Live Cricket Score : Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata Knight Riders via Super Over

April 23, 2009

This one went down to the wire, literally. But in the end, Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals had the last laugh, with the defending champions defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders in the ‘Super Over’ after both teams were tied on 150.

With a winner necessary from each game, the tie was decided by a ‘super-over’, a concept quite new to Indian cricket fans.

Both teams were given an over each in which they had to score as many runs as possible, with the batting side allowed to nominate any 3 batsmen to play – striker, non-striker and one in the hut should someone get dismissed – and the bowling side getting to select one bowler.

Chris Gayle propelled the Knight Riders to 15 in their super-over, and it seemed that they were almost home, again. But Yusuf Pathan came out swinging, belting Ajantha Mendis for 6, 2, 6 and 4 to seal victory for the Royals with 2 balls to spare.
