ICC World Twenty20 : India v South Africa
June 16, 2009
Most might be tempted to look at the last Super Eights match between India and South Africa as yet another inconsequential game. But after consecutive defeats for India against West Indies and England which resulted in a shock early exit from the tournament, MS Dhoni and his boys will want to finish the tournament on a good note and give their fans something to cheer about.
India has already been knocked out of the tournament, while South Africa was one of the first teams to qualify for the semi-finals.
South Africa (8/11 at 888Sport to beat India) is obvious favourites to get the better of India in this game. They have the momentum going for them, and will not want to give up on it so easily, while India has been struggling to get going. With nothing left to play and a long, winding season behind them, Team India will want to get over with the game and fly back. Sporting Bet offers 13/10 for an Indian win, but the probability of that happening seems a tad lower than that.
India: (possible) 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Rohit Sharma, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 6 Yusuf Pathan, 7 Irfan Pathan, 8 Harbhajan Singh, 9 Pragyan Ojha, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 RP Singh.
South Africa: (possible) 1 Graeme Smith (capt), 2 Herschelle Gibbs, 3 JP Duminy, 4 AB de Villiers, 5 Albie Morkel, 6 Mark Boucher (wk), 7 Roelof van der Merwe, 8 Johan Botha, 9 Morne Morkel, 10 Dale Steyn, 11 Wayne Parnell.
