India hope to keep the winning momentum when they face West Indies in the second One-day International on Sunday at Sabina Park.Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side hold a 1-0 lead in the four-match series after they won the high-scoring opening match on Friday at the same venue by 20 runs.
Yuvraj Singh set India up for victory with his boundary-laced 12th ODI hundred of 131 from 102 balls which propelled the visitors to 339 for six from their 50 overs.Ashish Nehra and Yusuf Pathan then captured three wickets apiece to strangle West Indies’ batting, as India dismissed their hosts for 319 to complete victory with 11 balls to spare.
West Indies did well to get so close to a monstrous target but they could have done better and pulled off a stunning chase if one of their top-order batsmen played a long innings. Chris Gayle, Runako Morton, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul all made valuable contributions to keep West Indies in the game but got out just as they were beginning to dominate India.
