India annihilated New Zealand by 6 wickets at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to book their place in the final of the Compaq Cup. For a side that hadn’t played international cricket in a few months, the Indians looked sharp in the field and bowled an excellent line and length to dismiss the Kiwis for just 155 in 46.3 overs. India played as well as they needed to with the bat, chasing down the target with 9 overs to spare thanks to a crisp 46 from 55 balls from Sachin Tendulkar and a useful 5th wicket partnership of 72 between Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni.
