ICC announces umpires, referees for World Cup 2011

England’s Steve Davis and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena will be the on-field umpires during the inaugural match of the ICC Cricket World Cup between India and Bangladesh to be played in Mirpur on February 19.
Davis of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Dharmasena from the International Panel of umpires and a former Sri Lanka World Cup winning team member in 1996 will be the on-field umpires for the opening match in Mirpur Feb 19.
West Indian Billy Doctrove and Asad Rauf of Pakistan are chosen as the third and fourth umpires. Dharmasena’s countryman Ranjan Madugalle will be the match referee.
The others who will share the on-field responsibilities in the World Cup are Marais Erasmus (South Africa), Ian Gould (England), Daryl Harper (Australia), Tony Hill (New Zealand, Asoka de Silva (Sri Lanka), four-time ICC Umpire of the Year Simon Taufel (Australia), Rod Tucker (Australia), Richard Kettleborough (England), Nigel Llong (England), Bruce Oxenford (Australia), Amish Saheba and Shahvir Tarapore (India).
Besides Madugalle, the match referees for the marquee event are Chris Broad (England), Jeff Crowe (New Zealand), Roshan Mahanama (Sri Lanka) and Andy Pycroft (Zimbabwe).
